Cloud processing of your voice
Last updated: October 18, 2026
What is sent
If you choose a cloud mode in Settings > AI engine, your voice recordings (and the text derived from them) are sent to Google's Gemini service on Google Cloud (Vertex AI) to be transcribed and summarized. On phones that cannot run the on-device AI that writes memos, the voice is still transcribed on the phone and only the transcript (text only, not the audio) is sent.
Personal information and location of processing
Recordings may contain personal or sensitive information that you say aloud. Processing may take place outside the EU/EEA.
No training
Google does not use this data to train its models.
Retention
Google's temporary caches are deleted within 24 hours. Hearofy does not store your audio on its servers.
Without your consent
Without your consent everything stays on your phone. If you decline on a phone that cannot run the on-device AI, you only get the transcript, with a notice.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw your consent at any time by switching the AI engine back to Local in Settings > AI engine, in the same single step.
